International Day of Radiology: 10th Anniversary

San Diego, CA- November 8th, 2021

10th Anniversary of Recognizing Radiology

November 8th, International Day of Radiology

Since 2012, radiologists and related professionals in the field have created the International Day of Radiology for the 8th of November. This day was created after the discovery of x-rays by Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen. The Radiology Society of North American (RSNA), the European Society of Radiology (ESR), and the American College of Radiology (ACR) are the three societies that created this day to celebrate radiology across the globe.

The day promotes the role of medical imaging in our modern day and shows awareness of how radiology is valued in healthcare. Every year they focus on a new specialty in radiology to promote and highlight the challenges in daily patient care. For this year, the celebration for the 10th anniversary focuses on the theme ‘Interventional Radiology’ with the motto, ‘active care for the patient’. The theme was picked to show the how healthcare challenges were brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The day is shown to acknowledge the struggles of daily patient care, the role imaging has in medicine, and how the specialty protects its patients.

Let’s the tenth International Day of Radiology (IDoR 2021) all over the world together!
